In Philadelphia, less than one-third of  the people with physical disabilities receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or General Assistance, and 27% live below poverty level. According to national sources, in 2006 the fair market rate for a modest one-bedroom apartment in Philadelphia is $742 per month. That's 123% of the average monthly SSI for someone with a disability. Inglis Housing typically spends 6% of its construction budget on accessibility features, compared to 2% spent by others in the affordable, accessible housing industry.

Tenants also benefit financially from Inglis Housing's partnerships with the Philadelphia Housing Authority for rental subsidies, reducing their rent to 30% of their income.
