INGLIS FOUNDATION RECEIVES NATIONAL MS SOCIETY
CENTER OF EXCELLENCE DESIGNATION

(Philadelphia, PA) – The National MS Society recognizes those community-based
programs and facilities that address the long-term care needs of people with MS as an integral part of their mission.

Nearly half of the 297 residents at Inglis House have multiple sclerosis as well as hundreds of Inglis consumers living independently in the community. Consumer services they receive may include community employment, adult day care, care management and accessible housing. Inglis Foundation joins eight other programs around the US that have received this special designation.

According to Dorothy Northrop, MSW, ACWS, Vice President, Research & Clinical Operations of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, “there is no question that Inglis is a unique provider committed to providing high level clinical care and quality of life services to a challenging population.”

Vice President of Inglis Living Operations Tim Murphy noted, “We are committed to doing everything possible so that residents and consumers with MS can live fulfilling lives and enabling the people who care for them to be knowledgeable and successful in their roles.

Besides serving a significant number of people with MS, Inglis House also has a strong working relationship with the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the MS Society and currently has 40 staff members enrolled to receive recognition as MS Certified Nurses and Certified Specialists (licensed therapists) from the MS Society.  Inglis House engages in a range of activities to promote excellence, serving as a site to develop models of innovative care and providing leadership in disseminating best practices for providing MS care.
