Inglis Honors Courage and Commitment at the 2025 BASH
By Natajia Sconiers
At this year’s BASH, we proudly honored two remarkable leaders whose unwavering grit and bold action are making a real difference in Philadelphia and beyond. Ed Dunfee received our Game Changer Award, and Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia was recognized with our Pioneer Award.

Ed Dunfee’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience and reinvention. A longtime Philadelphia resident and Navy veteran, Ed’s life took a dramatic turn in 2016 when a massive heart attack and sepsis led to the amputation of both legs and paralysis. Despite these challenges, Ed refused to let loss define him. Moving into Inglis Apartments at Elmwood, an accessible, supportive housing community designed for individuals with disabilities, gave Ed a new sense of home and independence. Since then, Ed has embraced wheelchair sports with passion and purpose. He’s earned gold medals at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in 2024 and 2025 and plans to compete again in 2026.
I know that fear, and it’s real for people, hopefully I can make it a little easier for them somehow. That’s my goal to show people we can do this...It’s like the good things in your life you overlooked, it’s the struggles, that stick out. But there is so much good to be in a community of other people in the same situation...
—Ed Dunfee

Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia shines as a leader in affordable housing, aiming to ensure every Philadelphian has a safe, accessible, and affordable home. As an independent affiliate of the world’s largest nonprofit homebuilder, their mission extends beyond building houses to strengthening communities through partnerships and neighborhood revitalization. Since 1985, Habitat Philadelphia has built or sold over 270 homes and helped more than 1,000 families with essential repairs. With innovation and heart, Habitat Philadelphia lives their mission to build homes, communities, and hope, reminding us all that home is a foundation for strength and opportunity. Habitat Philadelphia serves as an Inglis primary partner in adapting homes for aging adults, enhancing safety and independence. Together, we have completed nearly 50 home modifications for seniors in Philadelphia.
We’re in the business of preserving communities and building them up...the habitat mission [is] to keep people housed. When someone has to leave their community because their home is no longer safe for them to live in, it weakens the fabric of the community on that block.
—Cree Krull, Project Manager of Home Repair, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia
