A Shared Mission for a Stronger Future: How Inglis and Community Integrated Services (CIS) are Strengthening Employment Pathways Together

For nearly 150 years, Inglis has believed that people with disabilities deserve every opportunity to live independently, pursue their goals, and fully participate in their communities. Whether through accessible housing, assistive technology, long-term care, home modifications, or community-based supports, Inglis has worked alongside people with disabilities to remove barriers and build pathways to greater independence.

Now, Inglis is taking an exciting new step forward by announcing an affiliation with Community Integrated Services (CIS), a respected nonprofit organization that has spent more than three decades helping people with disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment across southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. Together, the two organizations are strengthening a shared commitment of helping people with disabilities thrive at work, at home, and in their communities.

Employment is more than a paycheck; it’s a meaningful way to foster confidence, connection, stability, and gives many of us a greater sense of purpose. It can open doors to independence and help people build the lives they want for themselves. At Inglis, employment has always been an important part of independent living. Through our Community Services programs, Inglis provides supports that help individuals explore career goals, prepare for work, and build pathways toward meaningful community participation. For many years, Inglis has helped people navigate barriers to independence through personalized services and innovative supports that recognize each person’s unique strengths and goals; that mission closely aligns with the work of CIS.

Community Integrated Services specializes in helping participants find competitive, integrated employment—real jobs, earning real wages, in workplaces throughout the community. CIS works closely with job seekers to identify strengths, interests, and career aspirations while partnering with employers to create more inclusive workplaces. CIS also provides benefits counseling, designed to help job seekers understand the implications of work on their benefits and make pro-active choices to support career goals.  By affiliating with CIS, Inglis will build on its existing employment supports while expanding its reach and deepening its impact. The partnership creates an opportunity to strengthen employment pathways as a key driver of independence and quality of life for people with disabilities.

“This affiliation represents an exciting step forward for Inglis and the people we serve,” shared Dyann Roth, President and CEO of Inglis. “Employment is a powerful pathway to independence, connection, and purpose. By bringing together the strengths of Inglis and CIS, we can reach more individuals, deepen our impact, and continue advancing a future where people with disabilities have every opportunity to live the lives they choose.”

For CIS, the affiliation represents an opportunity to connect participants to a broader network of supports beyond employment alone. “This partnership reflects our shared mission to create lasting pathways to independence for people with disabilities,” said Susan Schonfeld, Executive Director of CIS. “By joining forces with Inglis, we can expand our impact beyond employment alone—connecting individuals to a broader network of supports that promote independence, stability, and success both on and off the job.”

Over the coming months, Inglis and CIS will work together to thoughtfully plan for integration, with a strong focus on continuity of services, support for staff, and aligning operations in ways that strengthen both organizations. The affiliation is expected to take effect on July 1, 2026. Together, Inglis and CIS will continue expanding employment pathways, strengthening partnerships with employers and community organizations, and advancing a future where more people with disabilities can build careers, independence, and lives filled with possibility across Pennsylvania and Delaware.
